Is My Wife Awakening?
by My Name is of No Consequence inevery now and then, my wife will talk about how things are not making sense within the org.
i usually just dismiss it as her playing mind games with me.
for example, she would ask why there are so many branches being closed or why so many congregations are being merged.

There is so much wrong with this, complete hypocrisy and defensiveness. The governing body are more than rattled, they are waking up to the new reality of an organisation under constant attack from the press and from those who have left their religion as well as declining income and a loss of faith among JWs.
We are witnessing the turmoil coming to the bridge of an ocean going liner when it has hit an iceberg. I think the iceberg has reality stamped on it.
Soon, just before Armageddon, the remaining members of the Slave will be taken to heaven.
This is paranoid talk
The major message here from the gb is that the true believers should not believe rumours even if printed. By the same token nothing the Watchtower or JW org preach is ever more than untestable rumour: Jehovah, Armageddon, Jesus Christ, Adam and Eve, the Slave, heaven and going to heaven--all unsubstantiated rumours and not facts.
JWs will soon be clinging to the wreckage

Funny News From My Old Congragation - Elder Fight!
by pale.emperor ini haven't stopped laughing since i heard this.
a pimo in my last congregation told me that an elder has been removed from his elder position.
apparently he grabbed another elder by the throat, put him up against a wall in the back room and punched him in on the nose... during an elders meeting on thursday evening after the meeting.. the congregation were running round like headless chickens wondering what to do?

Why did you leave?
by Fred Franztone inwe all have many reasons for leaving, most are doctrinal, some are emotional.
it's a religion which obsesses over factual proofs (counterfactual though they are) of its veracity rather than faith, so it's inevitable that most who leave will do so for intellectual reasons.
which doctrine above all others forced you to reconsider your position?

Once I realised the whole thing is a gross confidence trick, Satan and God just being characters from a moralizing melodrama, no evidence for what what being taught and so many culty ways . . .there were no redeeming features left.
I was sitting at the meetings watching the crude indoctrination process and hearing the expression "Jerhoover's theocratic arrangement" for the umteenth time-- made me inwardly sick--and I realised that these gb clowns behind the scenes had dibs on micro-managing my life for eternity.
I think this was the final straw.

A Field Service that gave a shock to the CO
by Ireneus induring one co visit to our congregation, i was asked to work with co as i was a new publisher.
after some ordinary visits, we entered a house where there was only a lady who proved be well-educated.
though it was my turn, i told co to present the good news.

Well done for remembering the details Irenaeus.
I think that the ban on college education within the ranks of JWs is beginning to show. As the rest of the planet benefit from better schooling and because of that able to use critical thinking, JWs will remain stuck in the remedial class believing in magical solutions to mankind's problems.
Given more time to shoot themselves in the foot if the cult lasts long enough, they will be laughed at as ignoramuses. It has never been cool to be ignorant as your CO found out!

Hello Michigan, welcome to the site and thanks for posting your experience. "Am I losing my mind?" you asked, I think you are saving your sanity by having already woken up to the creepy cult which is called Jehovah's Witnesses. On the outside all smiles and innocence but on the inside paranoid beliefs of God's wrath visiting all those who are not JWs.
The religion suits people who need to be told what to believe, the last thing JWs want is someone who uses logic, reason or evidence, all they want are simple minded believers who will submit to the highly questionable authority of the governing body.
I am so glad that you were able to see through their religious racket. The deeper you go down their slippery slope the harder to recover. You might like to firmly tell them not to call on you but you will call them if you need to. Best wishes to you.

"Sidelined CO's"
by Gorbatchov ing's lovely and loyal to the organization mother (due to many reasons), gave an unexpected reaction when i asked "how is brother w. our favorite co and friend since her early youth years?
is he still alive?".
she reacted "he is still alive, but sidelined like the rest of the old gard.

Yes Gorby, the old JWs are sidelined and they know it. Doesn't this demonstrate that a lifetime spent as a JW only leads to gross disappointment?
All the myriad cosy lies about the superiority of "God's people" kept witnesses loyal and on a short leash but never do their promises ever hold true. What a sad waste of lives-- millions of them.
Never believe what JWs preach.

Did Ancient Jewish Worshipers Ever Make Changes to the "Holy' Scriptures?
by fulltimestudent inif you have the time and the means to visit israel right now, you can see something that few modern people have seen.. at the israel museum in jerusalem, a very special document will be on display.
the museum's website heading describes it as:.
genesis retold: an exceptional dead sea scroll.. .

Yes Vidiot it was normal to alter a new copy of any hand written text in your possession, the impulse would be irresistible if you thought you could improve it, why not since no scribe ever thought "I am writing a part of the Bible". All Bible texts are a selection by the Roman Church of earlier manuscripts to suit their political agenda.
Smiddy, there is some sort of logic that an almighty god would leave clear instructions but the premise is wrong since almighty gods are only beliefs in the first place and meaningful logic is only applied to fact. Nevertheless what heavenly father would leave such a rag-bag of illogical texts to confuse his children with--and then beat their brains out if they didn't get it right?
To get to the root of this religion business it is really about the putative authority of the preacher. I missed a few words out of my earlier post and had wanted to say: It would be a religious coup to claim that all other versions of holy texts were defective but only those in your possession were the true words of God and no doubt this trick was played on the peasants.
If you can show 'evidence' to be in possession of "holiness" or "Divine truth" you gain authority and make good money!
In the early British churches as elsewhere the key was all about how holy or effective your relics were and if they caused miracles. If your abbey had a holy object which won battles or cured the sick, people would flock to you and fill the coffers especially if it attracted royal patronage.
In a similar way the Watchtower org play their unscrupulous trump card by claiming not only their text but their interpretation of it is the "true religion". It's just a superstition, superstition and a misguided belief in holiness.
